Supporting the scheduling of millions of customers — from small businesses to Fortune 100 enterprises — requires a meeting-automation platform that can meet teams where they are.
Our larger customers often have specific security and administrative requirements and processes that come with managing user data at scale. In 2021, we launched Calendly for Enterprise to meet the needs of our larger, security-focused customers. It’s one of the fastest growing segments of our business. And for good reason: Enterprises need features and administrative controls such as SAML SSO, SCIM, account management, and APIs that tie into existing IT workflows.
Self-serve data deletion: Our latest offering for security-conscious companies
Customers often need the flexibility to delete their data to stay compliant with regulatory requirements. We believe handling this data deletion should be an established, approachable process — not a reactive fire drill.Â
Good news: customers across all Calendly plans can now quickly remove customer data within Calendly in just a couple clicks. For our larger Enterprise customers, we’re releasing an API that lets you embed Calendly’s data deletion mechanism within existing company data deletion practices.Â
Why GDPR and deleting customer data matters
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provide digital privacy legislation for individuals across the European Union and California residents, respectively. It doesn’t stop there. With active data privacy laws in 71% of countries around the world, businesses increasingly need to automate compliance across their brands.Â
These laws give consumers more rights and control over the personal information that businesses collect about them — including the right to have their personal information deleted. Failure to comply with these laws can be extremely costly for businesses. Under the GDPR, the European Union’s data protection authorities can impose fines of up to €20 million (roughly $20.4 million), or 4% of worldwide revenue from the preceding financial year — whichever is higher.
Quickly delete customer data within CalendlyÂ
Most software applications make you wait on support tickets to have customer data removed. Calendly now lets you delete user data from a self-service admin portal as needed from within the “Organization Settings” tab. Within the “Data Deletion” section you can submit a data deletion request. This allows you to have invitee data and PII (Personally Identifiable Information) removed within a specific time frame or to remove accounts (and their data) entirely from the main account.
Incorporate Calendly into your broader compliance workflows
Large organizations have centralized security and compliance workflows and need to manage user data at scale. Just imagine what a headache it would be to have to log into 20-plus applications to delete a single user’s personal data!Â
For our Enterprise Plan customers, Calendly’s new Data Deletion API lets you embed Calendly into an existing process and delete user data from one centralized location. To start, you’ll need an API key, which you can find in your Calendly Account via the Integrations tab.
Level up with Enterprise security and compliance
As a software company with customers across the globe, Calendly not only seeks to help our customers maintain compliance with data privacy laws, but we want to make it as frictionless as possible.Â
Our Enterprise plan includes access to our Data Deletion API and a whole host of security features and integrations, letting you enforce process compliance, user provisioning, and account management at scale. Â
To learn more about our Enterprise plan, please contact us and we’d be happy to demo these powerful capabilities.
